Your Brain on Music

Take a Musical Break!
Many of us do work that requires sitting and focusing on mental tasks for long periods of time. When we concentrate on strenuous cognitive tasks for an extended amount of time, our cognitive performance becomes less efficient. Taking occasional breaks can help us refresh, recharge, and refocus on the task at hand.
Instead of a ten minute Facebook break, try picking up your guitar and taking a break by practicing! For most of us, our work doesn’t involve playing music, so playing guitar will engage different parts of your brain and allow the work-related cognitive systems to temporarily rest and re-boot.
Just don't forget to get back on task after your mini-jam session...
Sincerely and scientifically yours…
