And on top of everything else, Tenille is a BADASS guitar player – not only is she tearing it up live (her very first tour was opening big shows for Miranda Lambert all by herself with just her acoustic guitar), but hit producer Jay Joyce made the unusual decision to have her play guitar in the studio when they tracked her album!
Here is a Nashville Numbers chart for Tenille's award-winning song.
The record is in the key of C, but the beauty of a Nashville Numbers chart is that it works for every key!
1 = whatever key you want to play in, then use that scale to figure out the other chords.
For example, in key of G, 1 = G, 4 = C, 6- = E-
When I first started working with Tenille on guitar, she was a 14-year-old visiting Nashville from her hometown of Grand Prairie, Canada. I could immediately tell she had something special: the way she held me in her steady gaze, the way she never whined or complained no matter how hard the challenge I threw at her, the way she worked her butt off practicing, the way she didn’t have a spoiled diva bone in her body.
Fun fact: Tenille’s dad, Rick, also takes guitar lessons with me via Skype from northern Canada, and Tenille has given him guitar lessons for his birthday and Christmas – guess where Tenille gets her killer work ethic?
Anyone who has met Tenille knows that she has an even bigger future ahead of her – so proud of you, babe!
